The UK government are afraid that the increased encryption of user’s data in Microsoft’s ‘Vista’ operating system will make it harder to spy on citizens, and are talking to MS in an attempt to build a backdoor into the Bitlocker Drive Encryption code in the O.S.
The Trusted Platform stuff that is being worked into motherboards to enable this just generally needs to be killed, but this way of fighting it miraculously manages to make the problem even worse.
