“You cannot triumph over a prototype”

Today’s threat to humanity comes disguised as Art(tm). A non-mobile full scale model of a robot from ‘Votoms’, built by a Tokyo artist. Currently, it’s only dangerous in that it’s an 11-foot tall sheet iron sculpture with a high centre of gravity, but that’s just to lull us into a false sense of security.

Edinburgh Council apparently wants to start taxing tourists. This is in addition to selling advertising on roundabouts. I’m expecting that the city as a whole will be sponsored by McDonalds by this time next year.

Also, homeowners in Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews would like it if those damned inconsiderate students would stop insisting on living near their universities. Apparently, property values in Marchmont aren’t quite ridiculous enough yet, and getting rid of the students might encourage people to pay even more for rapidly-falling-apart tenement flats.
