On Flooding
The morning (well, early afternoon) after the flood I finally convinced myself I should do something about the water situation in the flat.
When it first happened, my flatmates phoned a plumber who told them to shut off the water supply for the whole flat and wait until he could get to us on Monday. I’m not entirely clear why he told them this, since the problem was obviously just something to do with the washing machine. So I isolated the cutoff valve behind the machine and turned the main supply back on. No disasters ensued, and we can now use the shower again, so I’m counting it as a win.
We still can’t use the washing machine though. The plumber said he’d be here today (Monday) so I’m hoping that the thing might be fixed by a week next Thursday. Some “interesting” clothes combinations may result from this as the clean laundry situation becomes more desperate.
