Nothin’s Really Goin On
None of the following has anything to do with anything. Feel free to ignore.
1) My non-original ranting for the day is about service industry office opening hours. Specifically banks, post offices and the like. Which people are they designed for? What percentage of the population find the “10am-4pm minus 1 hour for lunch” schedule useful? I know that they’re really not that keen on actually providing any form of customer service, but would 1 day of evening opening in a week really be that difficult? It’s one of the minor irritations of going from working bang in the middle of a city within walking distance of home, to working on a boring business park in the middle of nowhere with a 1 hour commute at either end of the day. (See also: Courier companies who only deliver to home addresses and only during the middle of the day.)
2) There exists a band called “The Fucking Champs”. Perhaps you’ve heard their stuff? I haven’t. All I know about them is that I keep seeing them on concert listings, and that they have the best band name in the world. I kept meaning to listen to some of the mp3s on their site and kept forgetting. By now though, I’m pretty sure that I actually can’t listen to them; there’s too much potential for tragic disappointment. What if this band, this band with The Best Name In The World, actually suck? I don’t think I could deal with it. I’m thinking of going to see them live next month as an all-or-nothing make-or-break kindof deal. That way, even if they’re dreadful, there will at least be delicious beer to ease the disappointment.
3) Pomegranates are the most difficult thing in the world to eat. Are there any training manuals for: (a) taking less than 30 minutes to finish one while (b) keeping the scatter radius under 2 feet? At least with lobster you get specifically designed tools to help with the job. The intrepid pomegranate eater has to make do with a sewing needle, paper towels and lots of perseverance.
4) I’m going to watch The Wrens’ first UK concert next week. Am I a proper blogger yet?
