Aha! Another excuse to remove civil liberties

And so it begins.

Tube passengers are to have their bodies scanned by machines that see through clothing in an attempt to prevent further terrorist attacks. The millimetre wave imagers will be used to carry out random checks as people enter stations after services resume today.

Simon Stringer, managing director of QinetiQ security division, said: “After today, I expect the travelling public will be more prepared to put up with a greater level of surveillance.”

Yay for invasive technology in the name of ’safety’. Because having CCTV cameras every 10 feet in the city obviously turned out to be so very helpful. The National ID Card proponents are rubbing their hands in glee as we speak.

You know that feeling you get? The weird bile-rising blinding-fury kind of one you get when anyone involved in leading the country rears up on their hind legs and says that terrorism will never change our way of life or take away our freedom? I’m really fed up of that feeling.
